GTOS Observing Networks
Data and Metadata Access
Users can access GTOS data and metadata in the NASA Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) and the GTOS Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring Sites (TEMS) under 'Variables' with the Matrix below based on the GHOST hierarchical strategy. The hierarchy divides into five tiers, each with unique characteristics and roles, although existing facilities often straddle more than one tier. The concept is applicable to the three main areas which GHOST is concerned with - the land surface, freshwater ecosystems and ice surfaces - each with its own hierarchy, but all share tier five. Users can also access Essential Climate variables (ECV) data and information for the various topics in the matrix. More on GTOS Latest Update August 7, 2009
