STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—AccuWeather has added the new AccuWeather Hurricane Tracker to the AccuWeather app for iOS and Android and accuweather.com.
“We anticipate a more active hurricane season than the normal hurricane season in 2021, and the AccuWeather Hurricane Tracker will provide a significant advantage to our ‘on-the-spot’ users in preparing for and keeping track of a storm stay whether that storm has already had an impact or is about to land, “said Dan Kottlowski, AccuWeather’s chief hurricane forecaster.
The new feature is easily accessible from multiple entry points throughout the app, the company says, and provides users with a full visualization of the progress of a storm by guiding the user along the coast, inland, or out to sea along the interactive view path.
Start and end times are also shown under the AccuWeather Forecast Eye Path map, which users can scroll down to find key descriptive details of the forecast impact on the location, such as:

AccuWeather predicts the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season will result in 16-20 named storms, including seven to 10 hurricanes. Of those expected to reach hurricane strength, three to five become large hurricanes (Category 3 or higher with maximum sustained winds of 111 miles per hour or more).
