(Governor’s Office) – Due to the ongoing threat from the tropical low pressure area 20W, Governor Ralph DLG Torres expects a declaration of Tropical Storm Condition II for Saipan, Tinian and Rota at 12 noon on Thursday.
In a memorandum, due to the “current vulnerability of our islands, while we continue to recover from super typhoons Yutu and Typhoon Mangkhut, the governor said in a memorandum that all government offices will be closed from 12 noon on Thursday, September 23, 2021 and through Friday, September 24 2021. “
He added, “Uncritical government officials are advised to go home, look after their families, secure their property, and complete preparations for heavy rains and increasing wind speeds.”
He said the CNMI homeland security and emergency management bureau will maintain 24-hour operations through the CNMI Emergency Operations Center’s State Warning Point, monitor the 20W tropical depression movement, and issue bulletins and notices as they become available.
“This is an evolving situation and we will continue to provide updates,” added the governor.
