We are looking for an aggressive, energetic leader to join the broadcast team at 41NBC / WMGT. The successful candidate will have demonstrated communication skills and scientific competence to ensure relevant, authoritative weather coverage of Central Georgia. The successful candidate will be energetic, personable, and demonstrate superior organizational, presentation, and public relations skills. The successful candidate demonstrates the ability to work well under deadline pressure to interpret complex weather data, patterns and trends in a way that generates maximum audience interest and participation. Experience in dealing with storms and tornadoes is desirable.
DUTIES: Prepare and deliver daily weather segments for news broadcasts and assignable cut-ins, including engaging and informative interaction with news co-moderators. Monitor development conditions and send special weather reports if necessary. Being able to shoot, write, and edit stories for news. Represent the broadcaster at community events and school weather presentations. In the event of severe weather, work additional hours as assigned by the News Director. Advise the news staff on developing weather-related stories and be available to share such real-world stories. Work with the news director on continually improving weather coverage. Will use TruView Maxx Storm.
EDUCATION: A four-year degree in meteorology is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year preferred. Specific knowledge of the Central Georgia region is an advantage.
