family: Husband Steve is a fire chief in St. Louis County; They married in 2010. She has a stepson, Drew, 17, and a rescue dog, Winston.
Extended family: Adopted sister Sarah, 41, of Lexington, Kentucky; biological father Dennis Jokers, 67, of Chesterfield, Illinois; Half-brothers Nathan Jokers, 40, from St. Louis and Tim Jokers, 33, from outside Nashville, Tennessee; Half-sisters Rebecca, 48, Amy, 44, and Jill, 43. The half-sisters live in different parts of Kentucky.
Career: Weekend meteorologist at KMOV, where she has been working since October 2007. Previous positions in Columbus, Mississippi; Huntsville, Alabama; Louisville, Kentucky; Cincinnati; and New York City
voluntary work: Member of the Board of Directors of Missouri Botanical Gardens, big sister to little sister Nora, 10, with Big Brothers Big Sisters
Future plans: Cornett and her husband love to travel and want to retire in 5 to 7 years and live abroad, perhaps in rural Spain. “I want to live in a place with great weather,” she said.

I think they appreciate that I am able to be strict without scaring them. I’m not interested in pulling something together to make it bigger than it is. “
