A tornado warning was issued for Hartford and Tolland counties on Friday.
VERNON, Connecticut — Some neighbors are having to clean up damage from Friday’s thunderstorm that downed trees, branches and debris in some parts of Connecticut.
A large branch broke from a tree, crashing into cars parked outside the home of Vernon’s Marisol Cruz, who lives on Skinner Road.
“I heard this really loud noise and I ran to the window and I looked out the window and I was like… oh my god! I yelled at my husband. I was like, ‘The tree fell, the tree fell,'” Cruz said. “It was quite intense there for a few minutes but the good thing is that home is fine, we’re fine. Nobody was injured. Nobody was in the cars.”

Ten miles away in Tolland, the storm downed a tree onto a power line in Goose Lane.
“Our electricity was just a little bit bumpy so we came outside to see what was going on and a fire department was there right away,” neighbor Dylan Johnson said.

Johnson said things like this happen in their area, but this time they were surprised they didn’t have a power outage.
“There was a lot of wind, a lot of rain, we got the tornado warning just before this happened, so we were all a little concerned. We closed our windows because water got in,” he said.
Goose Lane was closed on Friday night when the tree was hanging from power lines.

Over at Windsor Locks in the afternoon, crews worked quickly to remove a tree blocking part of Route 159 near River Road.
After the emergency services had cleared the way, the road was reopened to traffic.
