1. Craig isn’t actually my first name. It’s my middle name. Steve is my first name. The backstory of why I use my middle name is a bit long, but when I got hired there were several “Steves” working in the market that my boss wanted me to use my middle name as an on-air name to help avoid confusion about who steve was. Ironically, besides me, we also had a couple of Craigs at the train station. The late Ed O’Brien decided to call me “Steve Craig” on the show … which others have sometimes done since then. I’ve pretty much taken on the name Steve Craig in my daily interactions at work.

2. My first job when I was in high school was working in a lawn mower repair shop. My neighbor owned the shop and hired me to pick up and deliver mowers. However, he decided I should learn how to fix them too, and trained me to fix and maintain small engines. Finally, I fixed lawnmowers, snow blowers, chainsaws, weed killers, leaf blowers, and everything in between.

3. During my studies, I got a part-time job at a fireworks company. I trained as a pyrotechnician and got my driver’s license in several states, which allowed me to set off fireworks.

4th Speaking of college, I was a pitcher and outfielder on my college baseball team.

5. I still play baseball today, albeit with competition a little older than my college days. Albany has a great adult baseball league that is divided into several age groups. I play with the Mets in the 40 year league.
