NBC’s weekend today announced on Saturday that meteorologist Dylan Dreyer, who has appeared on the program for nearly a decade, is leaving the weekend show to focus on her family.
Saturday’s episode was the last for Dreyer, who joined NBC News in 2012 and will continue as a co-host Today the third hour on weekdays with Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin. During a remote appearance, Dreyer watched a montage of her memorable moments before saying goodbye to viewers over the weekend, and she stressed her plan to spend some more family time with husband Brian Fichera and their three sons.
“You know, I’m just observing and looking back, I started in September 2012 and got married in October, so around the time I was at it weekend todayI got married and had three sons,” she shared. “It’s really incredible just looking back and thinking about the things I’ve been through, not to mention everything I’ve done on the show.”
Dreyer continued: “I really don’t want to step down, but I don’t think I can do six days a week anymore. The guys definitely keep me on my toes.”
After the episode aired, Dreyer shared her appreciation for the show through tweeting that she’s “so grateful they gave me a chance!” She added, “I’ll miss today’s Saturday but will still see you guys 3rd hour Monday through Friday!”
