Gold Coasters are warned to expect some storm activity later, despite a calm and warm start to the day.
The Bureau predicts that heavy cells may move in later in the afternoon before a southerly switch occurs.
It is expected to bring heavy rain, possible hail and high winds to parts of the Gold Coast and the southeast region.

At the moment, showers can be expected from late morning onwards.

The full forecast for the Gold Coast is as follows:
“Partly cloudy. High chance of showers (80%), probably starting this morning.
âA thunderstorm likely, possibly violent.
“Light winds will be in the early afternoon at 15 to 25 km / h southeast and in the late evening at 15 to 20 km / h from the south,” says the forecast.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Services are urging residents in the southeast to act now by tying loose items outdoors, covertly moving vehicles, keeping pets safe and preparing emergency kits.
