Some cloudy weather days are expected on the east coast of Australia, with noxious winds forecast over Victoria for the whole of Wednesday.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for the elevated parts of east Victoria on Wednesday. Senior meteorologist Michael Efron said Victoria can expect north winds to pick up all Wednesday morning through afternoon and then subside into the night.
Peak gusts of around 100 km / h were expected in the eastern parts of Victoria. Gusts between 70 and 80 km / h were expected in the center of Victoria.
Efron said he was most concerned about the elevated parts of eastern Victoria – Mount Baw Baw, Mount Buller, Falls Creek, and Mount Hotham.
“Very strong winds associated with this system when heading southeast in Australia,” he said.
At least 50 to 70 cm of snow was expected in ski areas.
In Melbourne, gusty winds were forecast until Wednesday afternoon and there was a strong wind warning for Port Phillip Bay.
For the next week, Melbourne had a medium to high chance of showers with maximum temperatures between 12 and 17 ° C.
Later on Wednesday there was a possibility of thunderstorm activity in western Victoria.

A strong front from the west was expected on Friday, and in the early hours of Saturday morning the winds were expected to get stronger and bring cold and strong gusty westerly winds.
The cold and windy weather should also reach the southern part of New South Wales and the ACT, with a severe weather warning issued for parts of the southern plateaus, Snowy Mountains and the ACT.
In areas below 1,900 meters, damaging winds between 60 and 70 km / h are to be expected, in areas above 1,900 meters snowstorms are possible.
The wind should subside on Wednesday evening or early Thursday.
In Western Australia, a second stormy outbreak was expected from Wednesday evening to Thursday this week, with potentially damaging winds for areas south of Perth and along the south coast.
A small amount of hail was predicted on Wednesday night near the coast southwest of Mandurah.
