The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted moderate to heavy rain and snowfall in some states by Jan 13. The weather forecast agency has also forecast cold waves and thick fog in the states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh by January 14th.
In its latest weather updates, the forecast agency said that light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the western Himalayan region are very likely by Monday. Heavy rains and snowfalls are very likely over Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.
In northern India, the rains over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi as well as West Uttar Pradesh are likely to continue on Sunday.
In addition, it is very likely that it will rain over east Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh by January 12th.
In the eastern part, it will likely hit the states of Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha from January 11-13, and Jharkhand from January 10-13.
Arunachal Pradesh is expected to rain January 11-13, while it is very likely to rain over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on January 12-13.
Heavy rains can be expected over Odisha on January 12th and 13th.
“Single thunderstorms with lightning / hail very likely over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha & Chhattisgarh on 9th & 10th; Marathawada on 10th; Jharkhand on 10th & 11th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 12th; over Bihar & Gangetic West Bengal on January 11th and via Odisha on January 11th and 12th, 2022, “said the IMD.
According to the updates, cold wave conditions in isolated areas are very likely over Rajasthan January 11-14 and over Punjab, Haryana January 13-14. Also over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh there will very likely be dense fog in the next 4 days; Rajasthan for the next 2 days and via East Uttar Pradesh on January 13th and 14th.
