Heavy rain this morning
Heavy rain showers brought a lot of rain into our south-central parts of the field of vision. Those showers cleared up at noon, but now they are happening again. There has been between 1 and 20 inches of rain in some areas, with the risk of flooding. For those of you who live near the Kickapoo River, a small flood is still a threat tonight. The river near Gays Mills and Steuben could swell with rain from the potential storms that evening. If you are anywhere near these areas today – turn around, don’t drown. Flooding could occur on the surrounding streets. Driving on a flooded road is never safe. The river is expected to sink below the flood at Gays Mills around midnight and should sink near Steuben tomorrow.
Probability of thunderstorm tonight
In the southern parts of our field of vision, particularly Vernon and Crawford Counties, the probability of thunderstorms is higher tonight. The main risk would be flash floods as the Kickapoo River has already swelled. Be careful when you travel tonight.
