Kabankalan farmers receive 5.7 million pesetas in loan assistance


The provincial government of Negros Occidental distributed P5.7 million in survival and reconstruction loan assistance to 570 beneficiaries of farmers in Kabankalan City on Aug. 3.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, assisted by Mayor Benjie Miranda, board member Jeffrey Tubola and provincial farmer Edmundo Causing, presided over the ceremonial distribution of the loan aid, which was held at the Kabankalan City Demonstration Farm.

The Department of Agriculture Loan Assistance Project aims to fund the emergency and productive capital needs of marginalized small farmers and fishermen whose productive incomes have been impacted by Typhoon Odette, and to help them regain their capacity to continue farming activities and contribute to a sustainable future provide food production.

The eligible borrowers are marginalized small farmers and fishermen who are listed in the Typhoon Odette Damage Report submitted by the Kabankalan City Government.

In a statement issued by Negros Occidental’s provincial government, the beneficiaries were enrolled in the registry system for the basic sector in agriculture to claim an unsecured loan of P10,000 per household at zero percent interest, payable over three years gain weight. *
