The Miami Hurricanes were among the greatest sports stories in South Florida in 2021, according to the Miami Herald. Miami sacked former head coach Manny Diaz and appointed Mario Cristobal as his replacement for the football program Top sports history of the year in South Florida.

Van Dyke completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. For the last six games of the season, Van Dyke threw at least 300 yards and three TDs in each game. Van Dyke leads a formidable young corps for Miami that heads into the 2022 season under Cristobal.
Miami fired former sporting director Blake James and replaced him with Clemson’s Dan Radakovich 11th greatest story of the year in South Florida from the Herald. The process of firing James in November and replacing him with Radakovich three days after Cristobal was introduced was much smoother.
Miami Hurricanes 2022 breakout performer
The Herald classifies Van Dyke as that greatest breakout performer in South Florida in 2021. Van Dyke received the ACC Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year awards. Van Dyke has been named the best Miami Hurricanes QB since Ken Dorsey. Dorsey had 25 TDs and five interceptions in his best season in 2000.
The safety of Miami Hurricanes James Williams defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and wide receiver Key’Shawn Smith were scored eighth named among the breakout performers in South Florida and “Key pieces at the beginning of the Mario Cristobal era.” Safety Kamren Kinchens should also be included on the list of breakout performers.
The Worst Moments of the 2022 Miami Hurricanes
Losing the Miami football team in the state of Florida is likely ultimately what cost Diaz his job. The hurricanes that allowed and closed the fourth and 14th at the end of the fourth quarter kept alive what would become the triumphant advance of the Seminoles. The Herald called it third worst Moment of Sport in South Florida in 2021.
In the words of the Herald, Alabama was “drunk” as the. designated fifth worst Moment of Sports in South Florida in 2021. The soccer team wasn’t the only Alabama drunk. The Miami basketball team lost 96:64 to Alabama at the ESPN Invitational in Orlando in November.
The Miami baseball team that failed to reach the semifinals of the ACC tournament and then eliminated three games in the NCAA Gainesville Regional could have been one of the worst moments in sport in South Florida in 2021. Florida has not won a single game regionally.
The Miami baseball team had the chance to qualify for the Super Regional for the first time since 2016. After a 1-0 win over South Alabama, Miami lost in their revenge 10-2 against South Florida and 7-2 against the Jaguars victory. It’s been tough years for the sport of Hurricanes. The future should be brighter.
