MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Pangasinan is now under blue alert as the entire province has been placed under tropical cyclone wind signal # 1 due to Typhoon Jolina.
In an interview, Shallom Balolong, the manager of the Emergency Response Center of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said national line agencies such as the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and Philippine Coast Guard, among others, will be sending reinforcements to the province.
“As discussed in our pre-disaster assessment meeting, the typhoon could move near Pangasinan, bringing heavy rains and high winds. We are preparing for it, â€he said.
Balolong said they are working with the Provincial Engineering Office on vehicles that can be used in possible evacuations.
“We have already coordinated with local government units while our social media page is sharing information on how residents will prepare for the typhoon and other information,” he added.
The Philippine administration for atmospheric, geophysical and astronomical services announced that “Jolina” moved on Tuesday at 5 pm with winds of 100 kilometers per hour (km / h) and gusts of 125 km / h west-northwest across the Sibuyan Sea.
