Rain accompanied by thunderstorms were reported from over two dozen districts of Uttar Pradesh, including the state capital, bringing the chill back on Thursday.
Rain showers were reported in Lucknow from most parts of the borough, forcing people to stay indoors. The daily temperature in Lucknow was recorded as 22.6 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below normal. The minimum temperature was measured at 10.6 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees below normal.
The high and low temperatures in Lucknow are expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively, according to the MeT forecast on Friday.
Besides Lucknow, Sitapur, Raebareli, Hardoi, Kanpur, Unnao, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki and some districts of western UP also received rain.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast more rain in UP on Friday.
According to the alert issued by IMD, “Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is very likely over Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Guttambuddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Hardoi, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharth Nagar, Maharajganj, and Kushinagar adjacent areas on Friday.”
According to experts, the rain over the next few days will lead to a drop in the average daily temperature, but will also herald spring, which is marked by a rise in temperatures across the state.
