RUDD, Iowa – The city of Rudd continues to clean up after an EF-1 tornado hit the city earlier this month. And even though Christmas Day is over, the generosity doesn’t stop.
They are closed at Tanks Bar & Grill as high winds tore off part of their roof during the December 15th storm. The bar also suffered some internal damage. A few days without electricity it was a race against time, but the restaurant donated some food to the needy before it spoiled.
Manager Megan Larson continues to spread the Christmas spirit.
“I contacted a few people to get lists of Christmas presents for the families who lost them or couldn’t buy enough because they couldn’t work for a few days. It was really awesome. “
As the work continues to return to normal, Larson is grateful for all of the donations that have gone into the community to help those affected.
“We had Osage, Floyd, Marble Rock, Charles City … the support from everyone was overwhelming.”
The public can still contribute to a GoFundMe account that will raise funds to rebuild the library, which was badly damaged in the storm. Over $ 9,200 has been raised to date. Additionally, Tanks customers can purchase gift certificates while the bar continues to work towards reopening around New Years Eve.
