Shocking videos were shared after heavy rains caused severe flooding in Alberton and Germiston on Thursday evening.
SHOCKING VIDEOS OF FLOODED CALLS AND STREETS ARE SHARED
Videos shared on social media show a hospital, shopping malls and several flooded streets in the area.
On the previous Thursday, the SA weather service warned of severe thunderstorms and warned that large amounts of small hail, heavy rain, floods and harmful winds could occur.

She also warned that stronger thunderstorms could be expected in several parts of the country by Sunday.
A heavy storm is also expected to hit land in Cape Town on Thursday evening.
Areas that could be severely affected include Strand, Muizenberg, and Cape Point.
Cape Town residents have been warned to prepare for stormy winds.
MEC environmental affairs spokesman James Brent-Styan said the Western Cape Disaster Management Center had been alerted of severe weather in some parts of the province.
âWe expect squalls, a lot of rain, hailstorms, especially inland. This can lead to localized flooding and difficult road conditions. “

“Widespread rain showers are expected along the south coast and the bordering inland areas of the Western Cape,” said a statement by the SA Weather Service.
THE CITY OF GEORGE, RECENTLY PROTECTED FROM FLOODS
This comes days after heavy rains in George caused severe flooding that uprooted the city. The flooding was so intense that the George Township ordered all residents to stay indoors while several schools were closed due to bad weather.
The George Township reportedly confirmed widespread infrastructure damage, road closures and the collapse of a section of road.
“The social development is in readiness in the meetinghouses in the affected communities to receive accommodation, mattresses and blankets, meals and toiletries,” it said on late Monday.
