Showers, thunderstorms possible this weekend

DETROIT – Welcome to Friday, Motown.

Today there will be more sunshine and slightly higher temperatures. After a chilly evening and night, it’s getting warmer this weekend. Half will have sunshine and the other half will have storm chances. Mild to warm weather will continue through the first days of May next week.

Friday will remain mostly sunny and mild. Temperatures are in the mid and high 50’s for the drive home. There are nice conditions for outdoor extracurricular activities.

Friday evening will be fair and cooler. Temperatures are in the 50’s before sunset and in the upper 40’s after.

Sunset is at 8:31pm ET.

Friday night will be cool to cool. It will be partly cloudy with overnight lows in the 30’s to almost 40 degrees.

Sunrise is at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Saturday will be mostly sunny in the morning and partly sunny in the afternoon. It will be milder with afternoon temperatures in the low 60’s.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday night and Sunday. Here is the time:

1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday: Round one of showers and thunderstorms will sweep the region from west to east. Heavy downpours and thunderstorms are possible in places.

8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday: Partly sunny as it gets warmer.

1 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday: Round two with showers and thunderstorms. These storms will be fewer and more isolated. However, the threat of torrential downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds is returning.

Sunday will be warmer despite the chance of stormy weather. The highs will be near 70 degrees.

Monday will be partly sunny and warm. Highs will be in the mid 60’s.

More showers and storms are likely on Tuesday. Highs will be in the upper 60’s.

Wednesday is seasonally mild and partly sunny. Daytime temperatures are in the low 60’s.

Cinco de Mayo, Thursday will be partly sunny and mild. Highs in the low 60’s.
