JACKSON, Ms. (WLBT) – The weather was picture perfect in Central and Southwest MS today. Although we don’t expect tonight to be as cold as last night, it will still be chilly tomorrow morning when we step out the door. Most spots should fall in the 30s overnight with mostly clear skies. Areas farther east could drop near or just below freezing into the early hours of the morning. Because of this, some of our eastern counties will be under a freeze warning tonight which could damage unprotected vegetation.
Our temperatures will be slightly warmer on Monday for the coming week where we are likely to hit the upper 60’s to almost 70 in some places. Expect clouds to gather throughout the region throughout the day, including ahead of our next weathermaker. We might see a few scattered showers later in the day, but tomorrow night and through Tuesday the chances of rain and thunderstorms will be better.
A low pressure area is still expected to be tracked directly overhead through Tuesday morning. Showers and possible thunderstorms are likely to be widespread in our area during this time. So make sure you have your rain gear nearby on Tuesday! This system should be phasing out east by Wednesday, as we climb into the 70s for the remainder of the workweek. Another system is likely to kick in by the end of the week, with more showers possible through Thursday and Friday. Once that system goes through, we should dry up by next weekend.
