The teams the Hurricanes will play in their preseason are Buffalo, Columbus, Florida and Tampa Bay.

Carolina opens Tuesday at 7 p.m. at PNC Arena against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The September 28 game in Tampa Bay was postponed due to the approach of Hurricane Ian. It is expected to end up as a cat near Tampa. 3 storm with wind speeds between 111 and 129 mph.

On Tuesday, the Canes’ first game against the Florida Panthers north of Miami was not rescheduled. The team is scheduled to travel to Sunrise, Fla. on Thursday and play the Panthers at 7 p.m

The Florida Panthers will then travel to Raleigh on September 29 and play the Hurricanes at the PNC Arena on October 1 at 1 p.m.

The Columbus Blue Jackets travel to Raleigh and play the Hurricanes on October 3 at 7 p.m. The Hurricanes’ final preseason game is on October 4th at the Keybank Center in Buffalo, New York against the Buffalo Sabers.

Last year, when the Hurricanes played back-to-back preseason games against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Canes won the first matchup at home 3-1 and lost the second matchup in Tampa Bay 8-5.

The Hurricanes saw the Blue Jackets in the 2013-2014 preseason when the Blue Jackets traveled to Raleigh and lost 5-4. The two teams paired again in Columbus and the Hurricanes won 2-1.

The last time the Hurricanes and Buffalo met preseason was in the 17-18 season. The Hurricanes started their year away against Buffalo, winning 3-2 in overtime.

Carolina faced the Florida Panthers twice in the 10-11 preseason. The Hurricanes lost the first game 4-1 and the second game was called off.

The Hurricanes finished the 2021-2022 season in third place in the NHL with a 54-20 record but fell to the New York Rangers in the second round.

The Hurricanes are starting another run for the Stanley Cup Finals this season with the help of veteran acquisitions Brent Burns and Max Pacioretty in hopes of taking the Hurricanes to the Finals again since 2006.
