Thunderstorms are returning for Tuesday and a few could be strong

Showers and thunderstorms are returning on Tuesday and while they will be isolated early in the day, they could be fairly widespread later in the afternoon and evening. Some strong thunderstorms are possible both Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of a sizeable late spring front.

Tuesday will begin in the mid to low 60s with high temperatures reaching the mid 80s by the afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms can occur in the morning, but will become much more likely from Tuesday afternoon/evening. Projections continue to show an organized complex of thunderstorms attempting to move southwest-northeast through part of the area through late Tuesday afternoon/evening. The timing of this feature remains highly questionable, but it could create damaging gusts of wind when it comes to fruition.

Temperatures will start in the upper 60s or low 70s on Wednesday morning. Wednesday’s highs hit the low 80s by mid-afternoon. Storms will increase earlier in the day on Wednesday, they could be widespread by noon. A front moving into the area will be a focal point for thunderstorm development, and some of those thunderstorms could potentially be strong to violent.

Behind Wednesday’s front, Thursday remains a bit in doubt with isolated thunderstorms a possibility early in the day, but the question is more how long this activity could last, depending on how slowly the dry air arrives. As a result, we’re going 40% to that maximum rainfall early in the day and an occasional rumble on Thursday with temperatures starting in the mid 60’s and hitting the mid 70’s in the afternoon.

Friday will be partly cloudy with temperatures starting in the mid 50’s and highs only reaching the high 70’s. Saturday will start back in the upper 50’s with mostly clear skies with high temperatures reaching the low 80’s.

The heat returns late Sunday, with temperatures starting in the low 60s and high temperatures pushing into the upper 80s. We should be mostly sunny on Sunday. Monday will start in the upper 60s with high temperatures reaching the upper 80s with dry conditions.
