Titusville pilot returning to Ukraine for relief missions

Local pilot Joe Hurston is about to make his third trip to Ukraine to deliver life-saving water purifiers to people trapped in the war zone. Hurston and his wife Cindy prayed at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Titusville before heading back to Ukraine on Monday.

Hurston’s missions have taken him to disaster sites and around the world. He takes with him high-tech water purifiers, each capable of providing fresh water to a thousand people every day.

“We’ve laid a lot of groundwork,” Hurston said, “we have a lot of really good contacts. Our goal is to position them where the Russians are going to attack.”

However, unlike his first two visits, this time Cindy will go with him. It will be her first time in a war zone. “We’ve been in hurricane devastation, earthquakes, volcanoes, typhoons, tsunamis and things like that,” she said, “this is the first time our disaster is man-made and so unnecessary. It breaks your heart.”

Cindy is a nurse who says she will be able to provide medical assistance and help with training on how to use the air purifiers. She says she’s bringing something else.

“I also prepared a nice playlist of music, encouraging music. If I find someone, a group of refugees waiting nearby, I will play their national music, their favorite songs, sweet songs to let them know the world is thinking of them. “

On this journey, Hurston 11 brings the high-tech water purifier to the people of Ukraine. Together with the 19 units that he already has in use there, he can supply a total of 30,000 people with fresh water. According to Joe Hurston, the machines can operate on water from any source except the sea. “Essentially giving them a water treatment plant in a £29 package,” he said.

Hurston says they will be in Ukraine for the remainder of May and he is already planning a fourth visit. If you would like to donate to help them on their journey, you can donate at www.airmobile.org.
