Tupelo Honey Forms Employee Nonprofit, Raises Over $ 500,000

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (WVLT) – Market Square favorite Tupelo Honey has raised more than $ 500,000 for his employee relief fund, spokespersons said Monday.

“Cookies for a Cause”, the customer raises funds for employees in need by selling a special appetizer.

The $ 4 appetizer consists of two cookies. The money collected by selling the dish goes into a pool that employees can request to withdraw. To date, over $ 250,000 has been returned to employees through the fund.

“Tupelo honey is known for its delicious southern striped cuisine and our cookies are famous! This effort not only allows us to support our team, but gives customers the opportunity to help them personally during difficult times, ”said Caroline Skinner, COO of Tupelo Honey. “Our guests have been so wonderful, loyal and generous. The simple act of ordering our cookies represents their “thank you” to all of our team members. “

“Cookies for a Cause” is available to all Tupelo Honey employees, full and part-time, the restaurant announced.

“This program will continue to grow and will have the capacity to support hundreds of our teammates across the country,” added Skinner. “It is now an important part of our culture and an incredible testament to our customers’ commitment of support and kindness to others – true Southern hospitality. “

The fund has helped employees pay medical bills, avoid evictions and fund disaster relief for employees, according to an announcement from the restaurant.
