Severe thunderstorms will cause excessive lightning in parts of the Northern Cape on Wednesday, on a likely warm to hot day across the country, according to the South African Weather Service.

In the central and western parts of the Northern Cape, as well as in the northern parts of the west coast and the Central Karoo district, extremely high fire hazards are expected.
